CLASS DESCRIPTION
Printing patterns using found objects is a fun, simple and inexpensive introduction to block
printing, with many applications.
In this fun, three-hour workshop we’ll look at how to design repeat patterns, and learn simple
inking and printing techniques. We’ll then explore printing with a variety of unconventional
objects like glass dishes, textured plastic, even fruits and vegetables. We’ll then block-print
festive patterns onto napkin.
Participants will print a set of 4 napkins.
There will be other table linens available to purchase and print as well: tea towels, table runners etc

YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Leah Springate
Leah is a printmaker and book designer now living in Owen Sound. She graduated with honours from the Ontario College of Art where she specialized in Printmaking and Book Arts. After a 20-year career designing books at Penguin Random House Canada, she left to focus on producing her own work as co-proprietor of Mammoth Hall Press, a private printmaking and design studio.
She has worked in many printmaking media including linocut and woodcut, etching and drypoint, screen-printing, cyanotype, and letterpress.
Her work is held internationally in public and private collections.
