DESCRIPTION

The classic still life painting is a staple of the artists repertoire. It is also a perfect way to hone your skills of casting light, representing shadow and using values to create volume. In this full day painting class Kim Atlin will help you refine your approach to painting table top still life arrangements. The morning will be spent doing short studies of various subjects and then in the afternoon you will lean in to a larger work on canvas.

This intimate masterclass will help practicing artists hone their skills or introduce aspiring painters to the art of winter landscape painting.

Kim Atlin

Raised in rural Ontario, Kim moved to Toronto to attend the Ontario College of Art and Design and stayed. Recently re-locating from Toronto to Owen Sound, Kim's fascination with the colours and textures of the world has kept her and her brush wandering.

Kim is a frequent exhibitor in group shows in Toronto, Ontario; Saint John, New Brunswick; New York City, New York; Palm Desert, California; as well as numerous other locations. Her most recent solo shows have taken place at the Bugera Matheson Gallery and the Parts Gallery.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING

Reference material for your painting (paper or digital)

Canvas no bigger than 16x20

Acrylic Paints (suggestions)

Ultramarine, French, Phthalo, or Cerulean Blue

Cadmium, Pyrrole, or Napthol Red Light

Cadmium, Bismuth, or Arylide (Hansa) Yellow Lite or Deep

Titanium White

Good quality brushes, small, medium and large (flats, filberts, and/or liners/riggers)
