DESCRIPTION
Clay 1 is a prerequisite. The ability to centre a pot and consistently throw a cylinder with intention is MANDATORY.
Clay 2 is a continuation of the Clay 1 introductory course where techniques will be expanded on.
Participants will be learning how to increase the size of their work while maintaining control of the clay. Bowl forms will be introduced. Techniques for refining and finishing vessels will help to increase the success rate of throwing. Trimming and glazing will be reintroduced and reinforced. Additions like handles will be included in level 2.
A maximum of 5 pieces will be saved and fired, additional pieces may be kept at a cost of $10/ piece.

Class 1: WED SEPT 23, 5:30 - 8:30pm
Class 2: SUN SEPT 27, 12:30 - 3:30pm
Class 3: WED SEPT 30, 5:30 - 8:30pm
Class 4: SUN OCT 4, 12:30 - 3:30pm
Class 5: WED OCT 14, 5:30 - 8pm
There will be a hiatus between classes 4 and 5 for bisque firing. The last class will be a glazing session.
If you miss the glaze class, the instructor will glaze your work for you. We are unable to accommodate makeup dates for missed sessions.
YOUR TUTOR
Michelle Minke
Michelle has been making pottery for many years, beginning at Seneca College, Toronto, and including classes in Yellowknife, Alberta, and Haliburton. She has been teaching high school at Bruce Peninsula District School most of her career. She is pleased to share her love of pottery at the Georgian Bay School of the Arts.
